Afghan President thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for support in the international arena

 Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani expressed gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his support in the international political arena.  The leaders of the two neighboring states held a telephone conversation on Saturday, during which they discussed the implementation of priority infrastructure projects.

 In particular, it was emphasized that during the international conference on Afghanistan held in Geneva on November 23-24, 2020, Turkmenistan, noting the progress in the implementation of large energy, transport and communication projects initiated by it, focused on the need to develop infrastructure projects in the future.  At the same time, the specific financial and material contribution of Turkmenistan to the practical implementation of such projects was emphasized.

 It was noted that the favorable geographical position of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan is of great importance for the implementation of strategically important projects to form new transit transport corridors.

 Such large projects as the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), high-voltage power transmission and fiber-optic communication line Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan, the Akina-Andkhoy railway were named as examples.

 The interlocutors especially noted the role of the Lapis Lazuli transit transport corridor, which will increase the volume of trade between the countries of Central and South Asia and the states of Europe.

Turkmenenergo will sign a contract with a Turkish company for the construction of the first solar-wind power plant in Turkmenistan

The State Electricity Corporation «Turkmenenergo» will conclude with the company «Çalik Enerji Sanaýi we Tijaret A.Ş.» (Turkey) contract for the design and construction of a solar and wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW. The corresponding Resolution was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
