Dialogue on prospects for interaction with the European Union continued in Ashgabat

 On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discussed issues related to the implementation of EU projects and programs, the organization of bilateral visits and events, including the holding of the next ministerial meeting in the “European Union – Central Asia” format, reports the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

 These issues were included in the agenda of the meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Deputy Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE of the European External Action Service Luc Pierre Devigne.

 Special attention was paid to the activities of the Erasmus+ Program and cooperation in the field of transport, including the holding of the Investor Forum in Brussels on January 29-30, 2024, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

 It should be noted that the EU delegation led by Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas visited Turkmenistan on January 17 as part of its tour of Central Asia from January 15 to 17.  At meetings with the President of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country, key issues of interaction were discussed.  This includes cooperation in the EU-Central Asia format, the involvement of the countries of the region in the EU Global Gateway initiative, as well as the participation of Turkmenistan in the upcoming Europe-Central Asia Investor Forum in Brussels at the end of January”.

 The parties also discussed a number of upcoming events with the participation of Turkmenistan and the European Union.  Among them is the organization at a high level of the next ministerial meeting in the EU-Central Asia format, planned in Turkmenistan this year.
