The draft constitutional law on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the country of Turkmenistan was approved

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Constitutional Commission of Turkmenistan, signed a resolution on the approval of the draft Constitutional Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan" and on its submission to the Khalk Maslakhaty of our country.

The head of state signed this resolution after the meeting of the Constitutional Commission on the development and synthesis of proposals in connection with the introduction of amendments and additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, held on Wednesday in the format of a videoconference.

As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted during the meeting, “the draft Constitutional Law» On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan” aroused great interest among our people. According to the Working Group established under the Constitutional Commission to study and summarize the incoming proposals, thousands of our citizens, having supported the proposal to name the parliament the National Council of Turkmenistan, spoke and gave their proposals at meetings and in the media. "

The proposal to create a bicameral structure of the National Parliament, the name of its chambers - Khalk Maslakhaty and Mejlis, also received wide support, the President said.

As the Chairperson of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova said during the meeting, according to the prepared draft Constitutional Law, it was decided to remove one article from the Constitution, add 3 articles and make appropriate changes and additions to 27 articles.

According to the text of the presidential decree, the Constitutional Commission decided to consider the work on the draft Constitutional Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan" as completed.

The resolution also prescribed to hold discussion of this project with representatives who will take part in the next meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan in the regions, provinces and cities of the country.

Then the project will be proposed to the next meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, which will be held in September also via videoconference. If the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan approves the project, propose this draft Constitutional Law for consideration by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
