Heads of border regions of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed the implementation of joint projects

The issues of implementing joint projects were discussed at a meeting in the format of a videoconference between the heads of the border provinces of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
From the Afghan side, the mayors (khyakhims) of Herat, Badkhyz, Jovuzjan and Faryab provinces spoke at the meeting held on Thursday. The Turkmen side was represented by the heads of the Mary and Lebap region.
The parties discussed the implementation of the projects of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line, the Turgundi-Herat railway line, and also considered plans for cooperation between the khyakimliks of certain provinces of the two countries.
Issues on trade, economic and cultural cooperation were also considered.
The Afghan side voiced proposals to open a branch of one of the banks in Afghanistan, health clinics in the border provinces of Turkmenistan, build warehouses, schools, and hold exhibitions.
