Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation in the oil and gas industry is gaining new momentum

Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited an exhibition organized as part of the international scientific and practical conference "Turkmenistan – Malaysia: 30 Years of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Industry," TDH reports. The large-scale exhibition is dedicated to the Turkmen-Malaysian partnership in various fields.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the distinguished guest visited a pavilion dedicated to the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Petronas. The Turkmen leader and the Malaysian Prime Minister, praising the Malaysian company's contribution to the modernization of Turkmenistan's fuel and energy sector, emphasized that the accumulated experience serves as a solid foundation for the further expansion of industrial cooperation.
Our country's oil and gas sector was represented at the exhibition by pavilions of the State Concerns Turkmengas and Turkmennebit, the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, the Seydi Oil Refinery, and the State Corporation Türkmengeologiýa. These pavilions showcased the achievements of the country's oil and gas industry and the work being done to develop it.
The exhibition also featured exhibits from ministries, industry agencies, and leading higher education institutions of Turkmenistan, as well as relevant companies from foreign countries, including Malaysia.
Following the tour of the exhibition, a signing ceremony for bilateral documents was held with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
These documents included: a Production Sharing Agreement between the State Concern Turkmennebit and Petronas Çarigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. and the state-owned enterprise Hazarnebit; An agreement on cooperation in 2D seismic surveys between the State Concern Turkmennebit and Petronas Çarigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd.; an agreement between the State Concern Turkmengas and Petronas Çarigali International Ventures Sdn. Bhd.; and a framework agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia on long-term cooperation in the development of hydrocarbon resources in Turkmenistan.
As the head of Turkmenistan emphasized, as a result of the agreements reached today, the legal framework for the partnership has been further strengthened, thereby marking a new, large-scale, and meaningful stage in Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation in this area.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the momentum of bilateral cooperation will continue to grow thanks to the commencement of joint work on developing offshore blocks 19 and 20 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea with the participation of Petronas, as well as 2D seismic exploration at offshore blocks 11, 12, 13, and 14.
Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation in the oil and gas industry, which began thirty years ago, continues successfully, the head of state stated, emphasizing that it is currently gaining new momentum and great potential, representing a shared success for Turkmenistan and Malaysia.

An industrial flow of natural gas was obtained from a well drilled by the team of the Lebapnebitgazgözleg Expedition of the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation at Tachmuradov site. This will be a worthy gift from the united team of the Expedition for the forthcoming large-scale holiday – the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

Since the beginning of 2025, the “Nebitgazchykarysh” Trust of the State Concern “Turkmennebit” has produced 1 million 278 thousand 817 tons of "black gold". Much of the credit for this goes to the drillers of the “Nebitgazburawlayysh” Trust, who have drilled 57 thousand 246 meters of production wells and 16 thousand 51 meters of exploratory wells since the beginning of the year.
