Prospects for the development of bilateral partnership were discussed on June 27 at a meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and a member of the Board of Directors, Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit, TDH reports.
During the meeting, the significant contribution of Japanese companies to the implementation of mutual economic potential was noted.
Large Japanese companies have already implemented a number of projects in the gas and chemical industries of Turkmenistan. At the same time, there are opportunities to build up partnership in new areas, which is facilitated by the favorable conditions created in our country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
In this regard, the role of the Japan-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation in expanding cooperation was emphasized.
The ITOCHU Corporation company took part in the implementation of a number of major projects in our country, the head of Turkmenistan noted, confirming his readiness to further develop partnership with this company.
Expressing gratitude for the favorable conditions for the effective work of foreign companies in the Turkmen market, the businessman noted the high interest of Japanese business circles in activities in the Turkmen market.
The head of state emphasized the long-term and strategic nature of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation. Noting that during his visit to Japan in April 2025, high-level negotiations were held and significant agreements were reached, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he warmly recalls the meeting with Hiroyuki Tsubai that took place then.
The head of state also noted with satisfaction that during the April visit, Turkmenistan took part in the World Exhibition "EXPO-2025", where it was the first to hold the opening ceremony of the National Day and the pavilion. Hiroyuki Tsubai emphasized the importance of the proposals and initiatives voiced by the President of Turkmenistan at a meeting with representatives of Japanese business circles during his April visit. Measures are currently being taken to implement them. On the same day, Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Executive Director of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Kenji Sanada, with whom he discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation. As noted, Turkmenistan and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. have been fruitfully cooperating for many years. Several major projects have been implemented in the country with the participation of this company. Noting the availability of opportunities to intensify and expand partnership in new areas, the head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan is open to business cooperation with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.
