Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation discussed key aspects of cooperation

On June 25, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The ministers noted the importance of regular and trusting dialogue between the leadership of Turkmenistan and Russia, which contributes to the further advancement of interstate relations.

Lavrov especially emphasized that an important factor in the deepening strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia is constructive dialogue at the highest state level.

In this regard, Lavrov noted the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Moscow to participate in the celebrations in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The importance of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation to participate in the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2025" was emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda of the upcoming consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

An exchange of views on regional and international issues was also held. The fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Russian partnership in multilateral formats, including the UN, the CIS, the Caspian "Five", and "Central Asia - Russia" was noted.

The meeting discussed in detail issues related to trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

After the meeting, a signing ceremony of the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation for 2025-2026 was held.
