On June 23, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Vice President of the Asian Development Bank for South, Central and West Asia Yang Yingming, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit, TDH reports.

The guest emphasized that ADB pays special attention to cooperation with Turkmenistan, which demonstrates stable dynamics of economic growth. In this regard, the bank confirmed its support for Turkmenistan's initiatives to form a sustainable economy and a course for its diversification.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the constructive nature of the interaction established between our country and ADB, which turns 25 this year.

During this time, ADB participated in the financing of many projects that had a significant impact on ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of Turkmenistan. The implemented projects covered various segments of the national economy, in particular, energy, transport and healthcare.

As noted during the meeting, today the partnership with ADB is carried out within the framework of the Cooperation Strategy with Turkmenistan for 2024-2028. In this regard, assistance to projects for the development of the economy, trade, transport and energy sectors of Turkmenistan, implemented in accordance with the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, was emphasized.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2025 between the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan and ADB will give a significant impetus to the long-term partnership.

During the meeting, the emphasis was placed on interaction in the energy sector, which Turkmenistan intends to diversify given the presence of colossal hydrocarbon reserves.

It was also noted that given its favorable geographical location, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of the transport and logistics sector and expects to continue the dialogue with ADB on the modernization of the country's railway industry. The head of state also stressed the need for cooperation between Turkmen banks and the ADB to realize the potential of the private sector.
