The President of Turkmenistan discussed priority areas of cooperation with the Chairman of the People's Republic of China

On June 17, as part of his participation in the second Summit in the format "Central Asia - China" in Astana, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, TDH reports.
Noting that China highly values friendly relations and mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the People's Republic of China expressed confidence that the current meeting will give a new impetus to interstate cooperation.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, For Turkmenistan, China is a reliable and time-tested partner. The positions of both countries coincide on key issues of the global and regional agenda.
During the meeting, priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
As is known, Turkmenistan and China have been cooperating in the fuel and energy sector for many years, in particular, in the field of exporting Turkmen natural gas to a friendly country. In this regard, the interlocutors noted the strategic nature of this area and emphasized the importance of continuing it on the basis of mutual benefit and equal partnership.
It was also noted that Turkmenistan is in favor of expanding trade and economic ties, where there are extensive prospects for increasing cooperation in the textile industry, rail transport and agriculture.
Particular attention was paid to interaction in the transport sector. The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for establishing sustainable interregional transport and transit corridors.
Having congratulated the UN General Assembly on the announcement of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" on the initiative of our country, as well as on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, Chinese President Xi Jinping invited the head of state to take part in the next Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to visit our country at a convenient time.
The interlocutors also emphasized the importance of the "Central Asia-China" format as one of the effective forms of international cooperation. In this regard, Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping noted the importance of the proposals put forward by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the first Summit of this format.
Following the meeting with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, a ceremony was held to announce the Agreement on technical and economic cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China.
