Currently, the search for sulfur-free natural gas reserves in the Zaunguz Karakum Desert is of great importance for the development of the gas industry of our country. An example of this are the Agarguyi, Tadjibay, Tachmuradov, Hazarly and Northern Gazlydepe fields discovered in these territories in recent years.

At the same time, despite the positive results of the first drilled well, it should be noted that there are structures whose development has been suspended due to the lack of production from subsequent wells.

One of these fields is the Northern Gazlydepe field, on the territory of which exploratory wells No. 1 and No. 2 were drilled in 2008-2011. As a result of pilot work, industrially significant inflows of gas and gas condensate from Oxfordian layers (VIII, X and Xa) of Upper Jurassic carbonate deposits were obtained from exploratory well No. 1.

The results obtained from the 2nd exploratory well require an in-depth study of this situation through a scientific analysis of all data obtained from the field.

In this regard, specialists from the Geophysics Department of the Natural Gas Research Institute reinterpreted 2D seismic data using the common depth point (CDP) method, well logging (GIS) and deep drilling conducted at the North Gazlydepe field in different years using modern software, and constructed structural maps for all layers (VIII, X, Xa, XI), as well as comparative diagrams and geological sections for wells 1 and 2.

As a result of the work done, in order to more accurately study the geological structure of the Upper Jurassic subsalt carbonate deposits of the North Gazlydepe field and expand the area of C1 category gas condensate reserves, it was proposed to drill a 3rd control well and accurately determine the location of its installation.

- The result exceeded our expectations. The fact that as a result of testing from the 3rd control well, the installation location of which was precisely determined using modern software, high-flow rates of gas and condensate without sulfur content were obtained was a joyful event for all of us. As specialists, we are proud that this achievement of ours became a worthy gift for the annually celebrated Science Day and the 30th anniversary of our permanent Neutrality.
