The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Environmental Aspects of Implementing Innovative Technologies in the Development of Hydrocarbon Deposits" (TESC 2025) began its work in Ashgabat on June 5. The event was organized by the State Concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmennebit", the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" together with the "Turkmen Energy Forum".

The forum is aimed at reducing emissions into the environment during the development of hydrocarbons and the energy transition. The event brought together representatives of Turkmen government organizations, major energy companies, international organizations and academic communities.

TESC 2025 is held in the format of two specialized sessions. The first session is devoted to energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects in the development of hydrocarbon resources.

Keynote addresses were delivered by senior industry representatives, including Maksat Babayev, State Minister and Chairman of the State Concern Turkmengas, as well as executives from Eni, PETRONAS, GaffneyCline and other international energy corporations.

This session will cover topics such as: exploring the evolving global energy landscape and the future role of hydrocarbons; technology innovation, showcasing advances in hydrocarbon exploration, production and processing; environmental impact, examining environmental challenges and mitigation strategies for hydrocarbon development.

The second session will focus on human capital as a driver of environmental responsibility, with a particular focus on addressing methane and CO2 emissions. Key topics include strategies to reduce methane leaks from hydrocarbon production, with a focus on the Darvaza gas crater, carbon reduction technologies and building a sustainable safety culture.

As noted by the speakers, Turkmenistan is actively promoting international environmental initiatives, including the proposal to open a Regional Climate Technology Center in Central Asia, the development of the UN Water Strategy and the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea, as well as the preservation of the Caspian Sea ecosystems. The conference also plans to hold meetings between the heads of major international companies and organizations and the leadership of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan.
