Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay a state visit to Mongolia on June 1-2. Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for the upcoming visit of the head of Turkmenistan to Mongolia at a government meeting on May 29, TDH reports.

The Vice-Chairman noted that fruitful cooperation with Mongolia is currently strengthening. Diplomatic relations between the countries were established in 1992. At present, the legal framework for interstate cooperation consists of 11 documents.

As reported, special importance is attached to visits and high-level meetings in enhancing Turkmen-Mongolian relations. Three meetings of the heads of the two states were organized within the framework of the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In October 2024, the state visit of the President of Mongolia to Turkmenistan took place. Contacts are also developing between governments and ministries of foreign affairs. Both countries effectively cooperate within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and other structures.

In the sphere of trade and economic partnership, priority areas are defined as agriculture, livestock farming, light industry, transport and logistics. Particular attention is paid to increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover, involving small and medium businesses in this process, the Vice-Chairman said.

Currently, measures are being taken to prepare for the upcoming state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Mongolia, to ensure its high organizational level. A program for the visit has been developed, during which it is envisaged to sign a package of bilateral documents designed to significantly strengthen the legal framework of interstate relations.

The visit also includes a Turkmen-Mongolian business forum, a cultural event with the participation of artists, an exhibition of national arts and crafts and an exhibition-fair of Turkmen carpets, Meredov said.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the upcoming meetings in Mongolia will be an important step towards taking Turkmen-Mongolian relations to a new level, instructing the Vice-Chairman to properly prepare for the state visit and ensure its high level.
