The first exhibition of Turkmenistan's export potential, held in early May in the Iranian city of Gorgan, was an important step towards strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries, TerraNews reports.

The event brought together dozens of Turkmen companies and attracted great interest from representatives of Iranian business, the media noted.

According to Ramazan Bahrami, head of the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Iran and Turkmenistan, the forum resulted in plans to increase bilateral trade turnover by 30% compared to 2024, when it amounted to about $600 million.

The main areas of interaction include the petrochemical industry, textile products, food, building materials and logistics services.

The exhibition allowed for the establishment of direct contacts between representatives of private businesses of the two countries, which has already resulted in a number of preliminary agreements.

The choice of Gorgan, the capital of Golestan Province, as the venue was due to its historical and cultural ties with Turkmenistan, as well as its active role in cross-border trade.

The immediate plans include holding a return exhibition by Iran in Turkmenistan, as well as a meeting of the joint economic committee in Tehran, where the parties will discuss the development of cooperation in the fields of transport, energy and engineering services.
