Preparations for the UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries were discussed at a government meeting

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Balkan region, held an extended visiting meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 1, where preparations for the Third UN International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries were discussed, TDH reports.

As noted, this high-level forum is planned to be held in August in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza". The sports complex "Avaza" will be the venue for the upcoming conference and events within its framework.

During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov reported on the preparations being carried out by the fuel and energy sector for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

As reported, a special institution subordinate to the State Concern "Turkmengas" is carrying out construction and repair work and landscaping of the territory of the sports complex "Avaza". Along with this, measures are being taken to provide high-quality services to guests.

Preparations for the summer holiday season are also underway for hotels and cottage complexes under the management of the oil and gas industry and located in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza".

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of strict control over the progress of the work carried out to prepare for the international forum. At the same time, the head of state instructed the Vice-Chairman to prepare hotels under the management of the oil and gas complex in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza" for the summer season.

During the meeting, it was also noted that within the framework of the upcoming international conference, which will be organized by Turkmenistan jointly with the UN, numerous political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian events are envisaged. The conference and related events are expected to bring together heads of state and government from 32 landlocked developing countries, 47 small island states, high-level representatives from 49 least developed countries, the UN Secretary-General and his deputies, as well as heads and representatives of a number of international and regional organizations, financial institutions, public associations and the private sector. In addition, relevant work is underway to organize cultural events of the Central Asian states. Due to the fact that the international conference will be held in Turkmenistan, it is planned to hold a national day of each Central Asian country in Avaza during this period to demonstrate their unique culture, art and national cuisine. Addressing the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized that the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza", will be one of the main events of the International Year of Peace and Trust. In this context, the importance of proper preparation for the upcoming forum was noted.
