Turkmenistan is ready to strengthen relations with Pakistan in the energy sector, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at a meeting on April 28 with Pakistan's Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, who arrived to participate in the first ECO Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development, TDH reports.
As Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, Turkmenistan is carrying out targeted work to bring its energy resources to the world market and attaches particular importance to the successful implementation of projects to build the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, and to lay the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line and fiber-optic communication line.
These projects are designed to contribute to the sustainable development of not only the economies of the two countries, but also to ensuring energy stability in the entire region, the head of state noted, confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to strengthen relations with Pakistan and support new initiatives in this direction.
Noting the importance of the first ECO Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development, held in Arkadag city, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the results of the guest's visit will contribute to the intensification of interstate cooperation.
During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral relations are successfully developing in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, energy, transport, educational and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Trade and economic relations are among the priority areas of interstate cooperation.
In this context, it was noted that there are ample opportunities for increasing the volume of mutual trade, as well as developing partnerships in such strategic sectors as energy, transport and logistics.
The interlocutors expressed confidence that cooperation between the countries will continue to develop successfully in a wide range of areas, TDH reports.
