As part of a friendly visit to Uzbekistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived at the Congress Center of Samarkand on April 24. A bilateral meeting of Hero-Arkadag with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place here, TDH reports.

Noting the great potential for expanding fruitful cooperation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Uzbek leader spoke in favor of further developing partnership in such areas as energy, transport, agriculture, industrial cooperation, and high technology.

Then the meeting was held in an expanded format, during which issues of multilateral cooperation were discussed.

The priority area of interstate cooperation is the energy sector. In recent years, joint activities in this area, especially in the gas industry, have reached a qualitatively new level, Hero-Arkadag noted with satisfaction.

Cooperation in the chemical industry also deserves attention, said the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, noting the high level of mutual ties and Turkmenistan's readiness to implement new projects in this industry.

Named the transport sector among the important vectors of bilateral partnership, Hero-Arkadag emphasized that the Turkmen side proposes to strengthen cooperation in the development of existing and creation of new transport and transit corridors.

“Our country is ready to discuss in detail the issues of more efficient use of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi”, said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Having noted the possibility of increasing cooperation in the transport and transit sector along the Asia-Europe line, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the importance of using the existing potential as efficiently as possible. In this regard, it was proposed to consider in the near future the issue of creating the Farap-Alat transport and logistics hub on the Turkmen-Uzbek border and to involve major global transport companies and international financial institutions in this work.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the high delegation of Turkmenistan will visit Samarkand on May 5 to participate in the Second Summit of the Strategic Dialogue "Central Asia - Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf", and Tashkent on September 6-7 to participate in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

As known, the UN General Assembly, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, declared 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust". In this regard, our state, together with the world community, primarily with the participation of neighboring countries, is holding a number of major international events. Hero-Arkadag thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for confirming his participation in the international forum on the occasion of the International Year of Peace and Trust, the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of our Fatherland, which will be held on December 12, 2025 in Ashgabat.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty also invited the Uzbek leader to the upcoming international forum on landlocked developing countries in August of this year, which will be held under the auspices of the UN in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone.
