International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments to the Economy of Turkmenistan - TEIF 2025 starts in Kuala Lumpur

Today, the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into the Economy of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2025) starts its work in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The forum was organized by the State Concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmennebit" and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in partnership with the ES "Turkmen Energy Forum".
The main goal of the forum is to expand opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment in all aspects of the energy, transport and communications, construction and financial sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan, as well as to strengthen the regional dialogue on further sustainable development of the energy sector.
Two pre-forum sessions were held in the first half of the day. The first one, titled “The Future of Hydrocarbon Production with Artificial Intelligence (AI): Unlocking the Potential of Oil and Gas Reservoirs,” focused on innovative technologies and the prospects for using AI in the oil and gas industry.
Participants discussed how modern technologies can contribute to more efficient development of the country’s rich hydrocarbon resources. In recent years, artificial intelligence has become a transformative force in all industries, from healthcare and finance to software development. The oil and gas industry is no exception, as it is on the verge of a technological revolution.
The session featured speakers from PETRONAS Upstream Senior Manager for Production Technologies, Digital Solutions and Innovations Wan Zul-atfi Mat Nawi, Ad Terra Asia Managing Director Ikram Rahim, Director of the Natural Gas Research Institute of State Concern "Turkmengas" Bayrammyrat Pirniyazov, Chief Geophysicist of State Corporation "Turkmengeology" Serdar Nuryagdyev and others.
This roundtable, organized in collaboration with the SPE Kuala Lumpur Chapter, focuses on how AI, through automation and predictive analytics, is changing the energy landscape. In the near future, the implementation of AI technologies is expected to open up new opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and unlock the vast potential of unconventional fields.
A parallel second session was held on the topic of “Prospects for the Development of Economic and Investment Potential of Turkmenistan and Malaysia: Focus on Education, Tourism and Entrepreneurship”. Its participants considered issues of bilateral cooperation and new opportunities for investors in various sectors of the economies of both countries, going beyond traditional energy cooperation.
The official opening ceremony of the forum and the plenary session are scheduled for the afternoon. Participation of high-level representatives of the governments of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, heads of major international companies and financial institutions is expected.
A total of 470 delegates from 42 countries will take part in the Turkmenistan International Investment Forum TEIF 2025.
