Japanese bank JBIC is ready to participate in the implementation of new large projects in Turkmenistan

Financial structures of Japan are interested in continuing investment activities in Turkmenistan.  This was announced at a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the head of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda, held on December 22 in the format of a video conference, the website of the foreign ministry of our country reports.

 During the meeting, the sides noted the high dynamics of the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations across the entire spectrum of interaction.  The active dialogue between the leaderships of the two countries and the personal contribution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the further strengthening of interstate relations were emphasized.

 The meeting participants focused on trade and economic contacts and the participation of Japanese companies in the implementation of large-scale projects in the territory of Turkmenistan.  The commissioned gas-chemical complex in the village of Kiyanly, a carbamide plant in the city of Karabogaz and a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Akhal region were also noted.  It was also noted that the construction of a gas turbine power plant in Lebap region with the participation of Japanese partners continues.

 The parties also considered the prospects for joint work in the implementation of new projects in the gas chemical, transport and agricultural sectors of Turkmenistan.

 Touching upon the topic of expanding the regulatory framework of partnership, the parties mentioned the importance of bilateral documents signed during the working visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan, including the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of infrastructure between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

 During the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place on the future stages of partnership.  The Japanese side expressed interest in continuing investment activities in Turkmenistan, taking into account the current realities, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
