New Afghanistan Ambassador discussed the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline and other joint projects at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

The significance of such large joint infrastructure projects as the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, railways from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route was highlighted at the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the newly appointed Ambassador of Afghanistan in  our country Khan Wali Khan Basharmal,  the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

 The ambassador highly appreciated the aspirations of Turkmenistan to facilitate the involvement of Afghanistan in the processes of world economic integration, including through the creation of favorable transport and transit hubs.  In this context, the effectiveness of the Lazurite Corridor was emphasized.

 The parties noted the importance of an active dialogue between the leaderships of the two states, which contributes to the comprehensive strengthening of mutually beneficial relations.  The high level of cooperation in the political and diplomatic line, as well as in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas was emphasized.

 The diplomats highly appreciated the partnership between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, as well as the fruitful interaction within the framework of regional and international structures.

 The sides expressed mutual commitment to further development of Turkmen-Afghan relations across the entire spectrum of cooperation.  The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the comprehensive support provided to Afghanistan.

 During the meeting, the Afghan diplomat presented copies of his credentials.

 As previously reported, next year construction work will begin on the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
