During his visit to the United States, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met in New York with Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, according to the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China.
It was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest and high levels are a key factor in the dynamic development of bilateral relations and strengthening mutual trust.
In this regard, the parties noted that the meeting between Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in China in March of this year, as well as the visit to Turkmenistan in April by First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexian, during which they discussed prospects for further expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, gave additional impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the gas industry during the talks, where the parties discussed the further advancement of joint projects and the expansion of their long-term partnership.
Prospects for cooperation in trade, economics, innovation, technology, and cultural and humanitarian areas were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to continuing close collaboration to implement the agreements reached and further strengthen their strategic partnership, the Foreign Ministry reported.
