The historic working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Afghanistan on August 10 was a key event in the development of the bilateral relations. This working trip set a new pace for the implementation of the large-scale Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) international gas pipeline project, initiated by the Hero-Arkadag and successfully progressing under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The progress of TAPI construction was the main topic of discussions between the Hero-Arkadag and the Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar. The parties paid special attention to the key 153-kilometer section between Serhetabat and Herat, known as the “Arkadagyň ak ýoly.” Construction work on this section, which was launched on September 11, 2024, is progressing rapidly. The super-giant Galkynyş gas field serves as the raw material base for this ambitious project.
