In the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, the development of the oil and gas industry, one of the pillars of the national economy, is a priority for the state policy. Extensive work to effectively develop the country’s hydrocarbon resources, to rationally utilize underground resources and to diversify exports to foreign consumers ensures the sustainable development of the industry. Every labor victory achieved in this area is vivid evidence of the growing economic strength of our country.
One such gratifying achievement was the exploration and drilling work carried out by workers from the Lebapnebitgazgözleg expedition of the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation at the Atabay site located in the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat. At this site, part of the Central Karakum gas field, the Atabay-1 appraisal well with a design depth of 1,200 meters was successfully drilled, yielding excellent results. As a result of exploration and testing work, conducted in nine formations, dating back to the geologically lower and upper Mesozoic periods, eight of them were found to be gas-bearing.
