The prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector were discussed in Ashgabat at a meeting between the management of the State Concern “Turkmennebit” and the delegation of the Emirati company Dragon Oil, which arrived on a working visit to Turkmenistan, headed by executive director Rashid Al-Jarwan.

During the meeting, representatives of Dragon Oil emphasized that Turkmenistan is currently actively participating in the development of the global energy market.  The possibilities of building up long-term successful cooperation, taking into account the accumulated solid experience of joint work and the grandiose plans of Turkmenistan for the further development of the fuel and energy complex, were also discussed.

Considering the growing energy demand on the world market, the parties emphasized the existence of good prospects for further deepening the partnership.  In this regard, Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider projects for further development of cooperation with Dragon Oil was expressed.

It is worth noting that the current meeting was the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dragon Oil, Sayed Al Tayer, which took place as part of the working visit of Hero-Arkadag to the UAE on January 4-5, 2024  of the year.

At the end of the meeting in the presence of Hero-Arkadag, the State Concern “Turkmennebit” and the company “Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd.”  signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan, having enormous reserves of hydrocarbon resources, advocates establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with the world's leading companies engaged in their exploration, development and production.  Among them is the Dragon Oil company, which has established itself as a responsible and reliable partner.

As Hero-Arkadag emphasized, among the priority tasks set for this key industry is to increase the volume of production and refining of oil and natural gas, as well as the export of Turkmen energy resources and finished oil and gas chemical products.

It was also noted that Dragon Oil, whose head office is located in Dubai (UAE), has been operating in Turkmenistan since 2000 on the basis of a Production Sharing Agreement.  The main area of its activity is the production of hydrocarbons in the contract territory Cheleken in the Caspian Sea.  Over the years, the company has invested heavily in exploration and development of fields, in particular Jeýtun and Jygalybeg.

Last December, Dragon Oil opened its new office in Ashgabat, which was another confirmation of the established long-term, strategic partnership.
