One of the promising areas for the development of the gas chemical industry of Turkmenistan is the production and export of sulfur. There is a growing demand for this product around the world from foreign companies from Russia, Switzerland, Afghanistan and other countries, says Doctor of Technical Sciences Allaberdy Ilyasov, as he shared in an interview with CentralAsia.news.
According to the expert, the largest deposit of native sulfur in Turkmenistan is located near the city of Magdanly, Lebap velayat. Its reserves were formed as a result of biochemical processes during the deposition of sedimentary rocks.
According to Ilyasov, the demand for sulfur on the world market will grow steadily due to the use of sulfuric acid in the production of phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers. Other promising areas are the use of sulfur in road construction and the production of building materials.
Agriculture is also the most important area of sulfur consumption. Sulfur-containing compounds such as ammonium sulfate are widely used as fertilizers. To expand its presence in this market, Turkmenistan needs to develop the production of new types of sulfur-based fertilizers.
The expert also drew attention to the fact that the extraction and processing of sulfur could become one of the key areas for the development of the chemical industry of Turkmenistan
– The sale of sulfur as a raw material resource and its processing is one of the most important investment indicators of the economy of Turkmenistan. Considering its huge reserves, the country can become one of the world leaders in the production and processing of this chemical element, - Allaberdy Ilyasov concluded.
