In Almaty, the role of women in the implementation of the energy transition in Central Asia was discussed

Turkmenistan representatives took part in the seminar “The role of women in the implementation of the energy transition in Central Asia”, which was held on June 12 - 15 in the city of Almaty (Kazakhstan). 40 representatives of energy companies, universities, enterprises and professional associations of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were invited to participate.
Turkmenistan was represented in this event by women leaders and specialists of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, State Concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit”. This seminar was organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the Central Asian Energy Program at Almaty University of Energy and Communications (AUES) site with the aim of combining women working in the energy sector and creating a platform for promoting principles gender equality.
The event is also aimed at promoting international cooperation, educational and mentoring initiatives to increase the number of female leaders in the energy sector.
The seminar participants discussed gender policy topics for the energy sectors of the region's countries, and also contributed to the development of regional cooperation and dialogue. These activities contribute to the increased knowledge and understanding of women in Central Asia in the energy-related professions and educational activities in the field of renewable energy sources, the transfer of advanced technologies and the tangible benefits of their practical application in mitigating climate change.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova noted in one of his speeches, “Gender equality is one of the priorities of development in Turkmenistan, and the country has made significant progress in achieving gender equality in social, political and economic spheres of life.
According to the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan to ensure gender equality in the country, the participation of women at all levels, including political and social aspects, has been expanded.
Today, one can observe an increase in the activity of women of Turkmenistan in all areas of activity. They work both in production units and in leadership positions for the benefit of the prosperity of our Homeland.
USAID “Central Asian Energy” project started in October 2020 and is aimed at helping five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – in realizing their national energy priorities, obtaining economic benefits from cross-border trade in energy resources and increasing energy security through the expansion of regional relationship. The project contributes to the achievement of intersectoral goals to stimulate professional training, education and capacity building; increase in private sector investment; using the experience of local organizations and ensuring gender equality. The project also supports local energy specialists.
