Turkmenistan is increasing gas supplies to China. In March of this year, the export of blue fuel to the Celestial Empire increased to 2.9 billion cubic meters, reaching the maximum level of 2022. It is reported by “Finmarket” with reference to the Customs Administration of China.
In general, the newspaper notes, exporters from Central Asia, as the heating season ends, restore the volume of natural gas exports via pipelines to China. Kazakhstan exported 380 million cubic meters to China in March and could potentially increase by another 100 million cubic meters per month. Uzbekistan resumed gas exports after three months of a complete halt and delivered 140 million cubic meters to China in March with the potential to more than quadruple supplies.
Earlier in May, during the China-Central Asia summit in Xi'an, Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke in favor of expanding energy cooperation with the countries of the region.
To date, over 350 billion cubic meters of natural gas have already been delivered through the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, put into operation in December 2009.
At present, gas supplies are carried out through three lines of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline. The countries reached agreements on the construction of the fourth line of this gas pipeline, which will increase supplies to 65 billion cubic meters per year.
