President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved proposals to create a Roadmap for cooperation for 2023-2024 in order to intensify partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States, as well as to strengthen the legal framework of relations and prepare a Framework Plan for organizing visits at various levels between the two countries.

These proposals were presented to the head of state by Vice-Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during a working meeting held by Serdar Berdimuhamedov on a digital system last Monday.

As R. Meredov noted, an agreement on these areas was reached following the working visit of the Turkmen delegation to Washington on April 23-24, during which a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of State and Turkmen-American political consultations were held.

It was reported that at the meeting of R. Meredov with the US Secretary of State, the further development of cooperation between the states of Central Asia and the United States on security, economy, energy and climate change was discussed.  During political consultations held at the US State Department, issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade and economic spheres, environmental protection, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

Members of the Turkmen delegation also met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Affairs, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council and members of this Council – heads of American companies, head of the National Museum of Asian Art of the Smithsonian Institution.

Given the experience of fruitful ties between US companies and Turkmen partners, the need was emphasized to intensify work to further strengthen relations, while the main focus should be advanced digital technologies and innovative approaches.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan, implementing a foreign policy based on the principles of peace, positive neutrality and constructive international cooperation, is always open for fruitful interaction with all interested foreign partners.

Approved the proposals presented, the head of Turkmenistan stated the friendly nature of the interstate dialogue with the United States, which has gained new content in recent years.

Noted the solid experience of many years of cooperation and the impressive potential for its further development, the President instructed to continue work in this direction.
