Voting in the elections of the President of Turkmenistan was held with a high turnout

Last Saturday, March 12, from 7:00 am, more than 2,500 polling stations in Turkmenistan began voting in early presidential elections. In total, about 3.5 million voters were registered to vote.
On the way to the polling stations, performances by popular artists in the country were organized, and traditional Turkmen treats were offered to voters. The website of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan conducted a live online broadcast of the voting process from a number of polling stations opened in various regions of the country, which ensured a high level of transparency in the elections.
The elections were held in compliance with the rules of sanitary and epidemiological safety. Voting participants passed through special frames that disinfected clothes and simultaneously measured the temperature of a person's body.
By the closing of polling stations at 19 pm, 97.12% of the total number of registered voters had voted in our country, the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan reported. More than 90% of voters also voted abroad in the country's diplomatic missions.
More than 2,500 polling stations were opened for voting throughout the country.
Nine candidates are running for the presidency in the elections – from the Democratic, Agrarian and Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as initiative groups of citizens.
The inauguration of the elected President of Turkmenistan is to take place on Saturday, March 19 at the Oguzhan Palace.
The current head of state, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at a meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty held in February, announced his intention to focus on the position of Chairman of the upper house of parliament and took the initiative to involve young people in leadership positions more.
