One of the important events of the Turkmen-Japanese cooperation last year was the opening of a gas turbine power plant in Chardzhev etrap of Lebap region, built in cooperation with Japan. This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ashgabat Yamamoto Hiroyuki in his congratulatory message to the citizens of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the New Year, which was published on the official website of the embassy.
The diplomat noted that State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ejima Kiyoshi, who visited Turkmenistan, took part in the opening ceremony of this gas turbine power plant.
At the same time, the ambassador stressed that the new gas turbine power plant efficiently processes Turkmen natural gas using Japanese technologies and supplies electricity not only within the country, but also to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
In his address, Mr. Hiroyuki summed up the results of the past year, and also spoke about plans for the current year.
Thus, the ambassador noted that 2021 was a very difficult year due to the global spread of the new type of coronavirus infection, but despite this, relations between Japan and Turkmenistan were developing steadily, as evidenced by the events of the year.
Among other important results of the economic partnership, the diplomat named the visit of Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan, during which documents were signed on projects for the supply of KOMATSU construction equipment and TOYOTA taxis and buses to Turkmenistan.
Recalling that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkmenistan, the ambassador noted that “this year we plan to hold many events, including large-scale cultural events dedicated to the 30th anniversary. I would like that, using this opportunity, all Turkmen people would enjoy getting to know the culture and art of Japan”.
In his message, Yamamoto Hiroyuki assured that in the future he intends to make every effort to develop friendly bilateral relations, expressing hope for support and cooperation from Turkmenistan.
