As a priority vector of cooperation between the countries of the Turkic Council, Turkmenistan considers the systematic and purposeful strengthening of economic and trade relations, and first of all, in such strategic areas as energy and transport.
This was stated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, which was held last Friday in Istanbul.
Noting the existence of certain prospects in this direction, the Turkmen leader noted that, in his opinion, “combining potentials, using the resource, geographical, production and technological capabilities of our states will allow not only to provide powerful support to national economies, but also to give a completely new content and quality the entire geo-economic structure of Eurasia”.
“First of all, we are talking about such strategic areas as energy and transport,” the President of Turkmenistan said.
As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, the Turkic-speaking states form a "natural belt" in the Eurasian space, which will connect Asia and Europe through reliable and stable transport and energy links.
“Our countries are capable of playing a key role in their creation. This is the shortest, most reliable and safe way for the supply of energy resources, goods and services to the largest markets in Asia, Europe and the Middle East along the East-West and North-South routes, the Turkmen leader said.
"In this context, projects are meant to create energy systems according to the Caspian region-Turkey-Europe scheme, as well as transport and logistics corridors designed to revive the Great Silk Road," the head of Turkmenistan said.
Proceeding from this, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the need to intensify interaction and start a thoughtful development of a unified strategy of the Turkic-speaking states in this direction and, on its basis, carry out coordinated transport and energy diplomacy.
In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan proposed to strengthen cooperation with specialized international structures, in particular, with the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and to start interaction on the implementation of joint projects with the involvement of such financial structures as the Islamic Development Bank and the Asian development bank.
As a result of the high-level summit, the Concept of the Turkish Peace until 2040 was approved, the decision on Turkmenistan's accession to the Council as an observer country, and the statuses of partner and observer countries were specified, the website of the foreign ministry of our country reports.
The meeting participants also adopted the final document of the 8th Summit - the Istanbul Declaration, as well as considered a number of significant documents aimed at developing and strengthening a multi-format dialogue within the framework of the unification of Turkic-speaking states.а
