As part of his state visit to Georgia, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on July 17, TDH reports.

Irakli Kobakhidze noted that Georgia attaches particular importance to developing productive relations with Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's state visit will provide a powerful impetus to expanding bilateral cooperation.

Speaking about the stable and effective nature of the Turkmen-Georgian trade and economic partnership, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that mutual trade has been growing dynamically in recent years. In this context, emphasis was placed on the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Having identified transport and logistics as key strategic areas, Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to assist Georgian partners in accessing markets in Central Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, and South Asia. The Lazuli transport corridor, involving Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, was named among significant and priority projects.

Alongside this, our country's interest in expanding cooperation in the energy sector was expressed. In this context, readiness for a detailed discussion of prospects for cooperation in this area was confirmed.

The head of state invited Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to visit Turkmenistan at his convenience.

Emphasizing the importance of the proposals voiced by the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the Georgian government confirmed its readiness to practically implement these initiatives, as well as to develop bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics, fuel and energy, and trade and economic sectors.

A signing ceremony for a Joint Statement and an exchange of bilateral documents took place with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Georgia. Among the numerous cooperation documents signed between various departments and institutions of the two countries was a Memorandum of Understanding between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (Turkmenistan) and the Georgian Technical University.

Commenting on the results of the talks to the media, the Prime Minister emphasized that Georgia views Turkmenistan as a friendly state and a reliable partner in Central Asia. They also acknowledged the significant potential for increasing mutual trade and exports.

Addressing the media, the President of Turkmenistan noted that Georgia is an important economic partner for our country. During the meeting, special attention was paid to creating concrete conditions for strengthening cooperation in trade and the economy. The head of state also noted the existence of good opportunities for establishing cooperation with Georgia in such areas as energy, communications, tourism, agriculture, textiles, construction, and others.

In conclusion, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the agreements reached will contribute to the further development and strengthening of Turkmen-Georgian cooperation.
