Turkmenistan activates cooperation with Indonesia and ASEAN countries in transport, energy, and investment

Prospects for the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and ASEAN countries were discussed at a meeting in Jakarta between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian States (ASEAN) KIM KIM Horn, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the interest of Turkmenistan in further expanding interaction with the Association in such areas as transport interconnectedness, energy, trade, investment, digital economy, innovation, education, science, tourism and cultural and humanitarian exchanges was confirmed, Mead notes. 

The parties also exchanged views on climate change adaptation, food and energy security, digital transformation and training.

Gurbanov also met with Indonesian Deputy Minister Dah Roro Esti seeing Putri. Particular attention was  paid to the expansion of interaction between chambers of commerce and business communities of the two countries, the organization of business forums, trade and economic missions and national exhibitions, as well as the development of transport and logistics links and the improvement of the contractual and legal framework. 

During the visit, the first political consultations between the foreign departments of the two countries were also held. The parties reaffirmed mutual interest in strengthening cooperation within international organizations, and also discussed prospects for expanding Turkmenistan's interaction with ASEAN, including promoting the Central Asia + ASEAN dialogue format.

As a result of the meeting, the mutual interest in further strengthening Turkmen-Indonesian cooperation and developing partnership between Turkmenistan and ASEAN was confirmed in a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
