Turkmenistan produced approximately 39.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 4.1 million tons of oil in the first half of 2026, demonstrating steady production growth.
This was reported by Dovletgeldi Amanmuhammedov, Chairman of the State Statistics Committee, at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on July 10, which summarized the country's socioeconomic development for the first half of the year, TDH reports.
According to the head of the State Statistics Committee, steady growth was observed in the industrial sector from January to June 2026. Natural gas production amounted to 39,147.2 million cubic meters, and oil production amounted to 4,129,800 tons.
It was also noted that, compared to the same period in 2025, diesel fuel production grew by 0.7%, while lubricating oil production grew by 7.2%.
The highest growth rates in the first half of the year were achieved in the production of petroleum bitumen (39.9%) and liquefied petroleum gases (64.5%).
It is planned to increase hydrocarbon production in Balkan region
In the Balkan region, a key region in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan, it is planned to increase natural gas production to 11 billion cubic meters per year by 2025. The head of the Department for Analysis of Economic Risks of the Agency for Protection from Economic Risks under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Hangeldi Gurbangeldiev, said this in a commentary for the official Turkmen press.
