Oil and gas industry development prospects discussed at government meeting

On June 20, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via digital means, where a number of state matters were discussed, TDH reports.
During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Guvanch Agajanov reported that, thanks to the attention paid by the President of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag to the development of the fuel and energy sector, necessary work is currently underway to consistently expand the oil and gas industry and further strengthen cooperation in this area with major foreign companies.
As reported, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the State Concern Türkmennebit has been authorized to conclude an agreement for the development of licensed blocks in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea between the Malaysian company Petronas Çarigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd and the Concern's state enterprise Hazarnebit. On the occasion of this important event, the Vice-Chairman, on behalf of all oil and gas industry workers, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hero Arkadagly Serdar and Hero-Arkadag, wishing them good health, longevity, success in their large-scale endeavors for the benefit of the people, and prosperity for the Fatherland.
Following the meeting, the Vice-Chairman reported on the activities of the State Corporation “Turkmengeology", the measures being implemented for the industrial development of rich hydrocarbon deposits and the effective execution of drilling operations at geological exploration wells. Particular attention is being paid to leveraging the experience and technological capabilities of leading international companies.
In this regard, a corresponding proposal was submitted for the head of state's consideration.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of improving the efficiency of geological exploration and drilling operations carried out by the State Corporation "Turkmengeology". Having approved the proposal, prepared to implement international best practices in this area, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the Vice-Chairman to carry out the necessary work.
It is planned to increase hydrocarbon production in Balkan region
In the Balkan region, a key region in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan, it is planned to increase natural gas production to 11 billion cubic meters per year by 2025. The head of the Department for Analysis of Economic Risks of the Agency for Protection from Economic Risks under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Hangeldi Gurbangeldiev, said this in a commentary for the official Turkmen press.
