The Geophysical Department of the Research Institute of Natural Gas (RING) of the State Concern "Turkmengas" has launched extensive work on the comprehensive and operational analysis of geological and geophysical survey data and drilling results. Department specialists study the platform portion of Turkmenistan and the oil-and-gas-bearing regions of Southwestern Turkmenistan, selecting and substantiating promising directions for exploration and prospecting operations. Alongside this, scientists predict anomalously high reservoir pressures in the Gogerendag – Ekrem zone. This makes it possible to improve the quality of optimal drilling and the accuracy of penetrating productive Neogene formations, as well as to provide scientifically substantiated recommendations to drilling enterprises.
Young specialists of the institute are actively involved in solving these complex production tasks. They demonstrate excellent progress in mastering modern software required for interpreting 2D and 3D seismic data. The professional growth and rapid accumulation of experience among the youth are directly facilitated by effective collaboration with mentor-scientists and senior research associates. Under the guidance of the department head, Hatyja Chopanova, young personnel not only work in production but also actively participate in scientific and practical seminars and training sessions regularly held at the institute.
Of great interest among young employees was a practical training session held in the Geophysical Department last week. It was dedicated to the use of advanced software for three-dimensional geological and hydrodynamic modeling of oil and gas fields. Such educational initiatives help young scientists gain a deeper mastery of their profession, translating theoretical knowledge into real digital projects for the country's energy sector.
