Turkmenistan is actively strengthening the foundation of its energy sector through large-scale system modernization, increased energy efficiency, and consistent emission reductions. This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov, who led the Turkmen delegation at the "Yerevan Dialogue 2026" international forum, which began in Yerevan.
During his speech, the head of the Turkmen delegation focused on the gradual expansion of renewable energy sources (RES) while maintaining the country's economic stability and social well-being.
It was noted that Turkmenistan has already taken concrete steps to create a favorable environment for a "green" energy transition. It was emphasized that the environmental transformation of the sector is directly linked to ensuring energy security, labor market adaptation, and balanced regional development.
Key priorities included ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the population, training qualified personnel for new fields, and ensuring equal access for all communities to the benefits of attracted investments.
The speech emphasized the importance of constructive international cooperation for the implementation of national plans. It was noted that close collaboration with such reputable partners as the UN and international financial institutions serves as a clear example of the effectiveness of external support. Much of the credit for this goes to the drillers of the “Nebitgazburawlayysh” Trust, who have drilled 57 thousand 246 meters of production wells and 16 thousand 51 meters of exploratory wells since the beginning of the year.
