An international conference to mark the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan-China cooperation in the gas sector opened in Ashgabat

Today, April 16, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Turkmenistan – the People's Republic of China: Strategic Gas Cooperation for the 20th Anniversary," dedicated to the 20th anniversary of strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China in the gas sector.
The high-level plenary session focused on strategic energy cooperation, investment, and gas industry development. Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, moderated the conference.
During the plenary session, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Guvanch Agajanov, First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, State Minister and Chairman of the State Concern Turkmengas Maksat Babayev, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the China National Petroleum Corporation Dai Houliang spoke.
The speakers emphasized the exceptional importance of the energy dialogue between Turkmenistan and China for the economic prosperity of the entire region.
The conference program includes two thematic sessions. The first is devoted to Turkmenistan's priority gas projects—its resource base, investment opportunities, and the development of export infrastructure to ensure stable energy supplies to international markets, as well as the implementation of priority gas projects.
The second session covers scientific and educational aspects of cooperation. Key topics for discussion include training specialists for the oil and gas industry, developing joint educational programs, exchanging experience between Turkmen and Chinese specialists, and strengthening scientific ties.
The Ashgabat Forum brought together leading experts, heads of relevant agencies, and representatives of major energy companies to discuss the results of long-term cooperation and identify promising areas for the further development of the fuel and energy sector.
The conference also included a thematic exhibition where participants could learn about the latest achievements and technological solutions in the gas industries of Turkmenistan and China.
