The "Social and Economic Development Program" and "Investment Program of Turkmenistan for 2026," approved at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on February 13, outline priority tasks for the implementation of major projects, including in the country's oil and gas sector.
According to the documents, in 2026, Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry will place particular emphasis on the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat pipeline section, known as "Arkadagyň ak ýoly," which is part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
Drilling of production wells at the Galkynysh gas field will also continue. Furthermore, exploration and deep-well drilling are planned to identify new oil and gas fields and increase their reserves in the country.
Overall, the 2026 Program was prepared based on the successful implementation of the objectives outlined in the "Program for the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022–2052" and is based on state budget indicators, production, and financial plans. Thanks to comprehensive economic development, macroeconomic indicators are expected to steadily improve, with Turkmenistan's gross domestic product growth rate expected to reach at least 6.3% in 2026.
Implementation of the objectives outlined for the current year will contribute to the country's socioeconomic development, an active investment policy, the further implementation of modern digital technologies in industry, the creation of new jobs, and improved living standards.
