Turkmenistan and the EBRD discussed prospects for cooperation in transport and energy

Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to discuss expanding financial and investment cooperation and implementing joint projects, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on February 26.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of projects to develop the East-West International Transport Corridor. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to consider specific EBRD proposals for participation in initiatives in this area.
Expanding cooperation in the energy sector was also identified as a priority. In this context, the parties noted the extensive opportunities for the EBRD to participate in ongoing sustainable energy projects.
During the meeting, Meredov emphasized the effective nature of the country's long-standing cooperation with the EBRD.
The EBRD President confirmed her interest in further expanding mutually beneficial contacts.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the continued progressive development of bilateral cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Turkmen delegation led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov is on a working visit to the UK.
