Turkmenistan representatives participated in the UNEP Conference on methane emissions reduction in Abu Dhabi

Representatives of the Turkmengas and Turkmennebit State Concerns participated in the Turkmen delegation at the annual conference of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on the implementation of the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) 2.0 initiative, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Turkmen delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
The conference brought together representatives of more than 150 leading member companies, accounting for over 42% of global oil and gas production, as well as government and academic partners.
One of the main agenda items was the discussion of specific measures to reduce methane emissions with the goal of achieving Level 5 reporting under the Gold Standard.
During the conference, the Turkmen delegation met with representatives of the World Bank and UNEP. The discussion focused on the role of the OGMP 2.0 standard, as well as a proposed grant project to create a methane emissions monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) system.
