Students at the Balkanabat Oil Secondary Vocational School under the Türkmennebit State Concern traditionally undergo winter internships at the end of the first half of the academic year. We decided to observe the practical training of future oil workers studying oil and gas well drilling at the vocational school. Under the guidance of experienced specialists, the interns learn the drilling process step by step at operating production facilities. They have an opportunity to experience first-hand the operation of a ZJ70 drilling rig, manufactured in China, of the Goturdepe Drilling Directorate.
Internships are a mandatory stage of training aimed at reinforcing theoretical knowledge and acquiring professional skills in real-world conditions. Students adapt to the work process, study the enterprise’s operations, learn to apply formulas and diagrams in practice and also develop labour discipline and responsibility.
Developing professional skills, integrating into the work environment and experiencing the intricacies of their chosen profession are the main benefits of future specialists’ adaptation and professional development.
