Turkmenistan and ESCAP confirm readiness to further deepen constructive interaction

On January 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, during a meeting with the Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Kaveh Zahedi, discussed prospects for cooperation in the spheres of sustainable development, transport, and energy, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and ESCAP. The Turkmen side highlighted the high level of partnership and positively assessed the results of joint work in key areas, including sustainable development, transport and energy, disaster risk reduction, as well as cooperation within SPECA," notes the Foreign Ministry.
Turkmenistan's commitment to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was noted. Particular attention was paid to issues of digitalization, the development of paperless trade, the implementation of the "Single Window" principle, as well as the expansion of practical cooperation with ESCAP institutions.
The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to ESCAP for supporting the country's international and regional initiatives, including resolutions aimed at sustainable development and addressing environmental issues, including those related to the Aral Sea basin.
In conclusion of the meeting, readiness was confirmed to further deepen constructive interaction between Turkmenistan and ESCAP in the interests of the region's sustainable development, notes the Foreign Ministry.
