Turkmen-Japanese Cooperation Plans for 2026 Discussed in Tokyo

The implementation of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation plans for 2026 was discussed on January 21 at a meeting between Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, and Hiroyuki Tsubai, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation plans for 2026, including the implementation of joint economic projects in Turkmenistan to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan, according to the Foreign Ministry's statement.

The Japanese side confirmed the need to continue work on economic projects, including those in the area of ​​the circular economy, announced by the President of Turkmenistan at the first "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue Summit, held in Tokyo on December 20, 2025.

The meeting emphasized the importance of further developing the medical cluster in the city of Arkadag, in which the Japanese company Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. is actively involved.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to set a date for the next 16th Joint Meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation in Tokyo in 2026.
