The President of Turkmenistan approved plans for the oil and gas sector in 2026

On January 9, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held the first digital meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in 2026, the year declared "Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds," where a number of state matters were discussed, TDH reports.

During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov reported on the work plans of the oil and gas sector agencies for 2026.

As noted, the plans of the State Concerns Turkmengas and Turkmennebit include the development of oil and gas fields, the production of natural and associated gas, oil and gas condensate, the production of liquefied natural gas, the export of Turkmen gas to global markets, as well as the advanced refining of oil and the supply of petroleum products to domestic and international consumers. The State Corporation Turkmengeology plans to search for and identify oil and natural gas-rich formations, solid minerals, and groundwater, develop a digital system, and scale up the implementation of advanced scientific achievements and innovative technologies in production.

Priority tasks also include the commencement of the next phases of development at the Galkynysh gas field and the successful completion of the construction of a key link in the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline—the Serhetabat–Herat section, known as the "Arkadagyň ak ýoly" pipeline.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the need to consistently increase oil and gas production in the country and efficiently utilize the production capacities of relevant enterprises. Approving the presented plans for the oil and gas sector, the head of state instructed the Vice-Chairman to carry out the relevant work.
