"Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds" – this is the motto our country will use for 2026. The Mejlis of Turkmenistan adopted the corresponding resolution on December 26.

"According to the Eastern calendar, the coming year is the Year of the Horse. Turkmen horses are the national pride of our people, a priceless treasure, and a symbol of high achievement. The coming year holds special significance for the people of Turkmenistan. In 2026, our Fatherland will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its sacred independence. In the centuries-old history of the Turkmen people and on the path to independent development, horses occupy a special place as a reliable and faithful companion of the nation," the Mejlis resolution states.

The document also states that "Ahal-Teke horses adorn the State Emblem of Turkmenistan, a symbol of the development of an independent, permanently neutral Homeland”.

The Mejlis resolution was approved by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council held on December 26.

As Mejlis Chairperson Dunyagozel Gulmanova reported at the meeting, the new motto and corresponding emblem were chosen based on numerous suggestions received from work collectives, public organizations, and citizens.

Having approved the proposed motto and emblem, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that naming each year has become a good tradition, uniting the people around common goals. The image of a determined racehorse reflects the current pace of our country's development.
