President of Turkmenistan met with the heads of major Japanese companies

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met in Tokyo with the heads of leading Japanese companies as part of his working visit to Japan to participate in the first Central Asia-Japan Dialogue Summit.

According to the Turkmenistan newspaper, the meeting took place at the Palace Hotel Tokyo. Representatives of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee and the heads of major Japanese corporations, including Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Tohkemy Corporation, and ITOCHU Corporation, participated.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Japanese businessmen for organizing the meeting, which is crucial for the development of Turkmen-Japanese economic cooperation. The head of state noted that Turkmenistan continues to deepen its established and well-established cooperation with Japanese companies, while striving to achieve new, more ambitious goals.

The President emphasized that Japan exemplifies for Turkmenistan a harmonious combination of high-tech development, an innovative approach to the economy, industrial growth, and environmental responsibility. Turkmenistan recognizes the need for a comprehensive transformation of its economic model, focusing on several priority areas: the implementation of innovative development strategies, accelerated industrialization, a green transition, diversification of the energy sector, and the development of national and international transport and logistics links.

Praising the contribution of Japanese companies, which have successfully operated in Turkmenistan for many years, to strengthening the potential of the Turkmen economy, the President encouraged them to implement new investment projects in these areas. Specifically, specific proposals were made for cooperation with leading partner companies in areas such as water supply, water treatment, waste management, green and hydrogen energy, and the transition to a closed-loop economy.

At the end of the meeting, the businessmen expressed confidence that the Turkmen leader's visit to Japan would be an important step in implementing the agreements reached to develop bilateral cooperation, and they assured Japanese companies of their continued efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
