On December 17, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Japan on a working visit to participate in the first "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue Summit, TDH reports.
The Turkmen-Japanese dialogue exemplifies strategic cooperation in the implementation of major joint projects. Thanks to cooperation with Japanese companies Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Itochu, and Sojitz, major industrial enterprises have been built. These include the world's first plant producing environmentally friendly gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe, a polymer plant in Kiyanly, and a urea plant in Garabogaz.
The implementation of these projects has not only contributed to increasing Turkmenistan's export potential but also ushered in a new stage of industrial development for the national economy.
This is President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's second visit to Japan. In April 2025, the head of state attended a gala event to mark Turkmenistan's National Day at the World Expo in Osaka. The Turkmen pavilion at EXPO 2025 was the first to open and became one of the most visited.
Interaction between Turkmenistan and Japan within international structures is systemic and driven by the interests of universal sustainable development. This is evidenced by the active cooperation between the two countries within the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue format.
