On December 12, the Turkmen capital is hosting an International Forum to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, International Neutrality Day, and the declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust," TDH reports.
High-level delegations from several countries, international, and regional organizations are participating in the forum.
The legal status of permanent neutrality, recognized three times by UN General Assembly resolutions, forms the foundation of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. This legal status, supported by the international community, has strengthened our country's position as a peacekeeping state.
Positive neutrality is an active strategy based on the principles of peace and trust. The country's foreign policy is aimed at promoting stability, security, and mutual understanding in the region and beyond and is fully consistent with UN principles.
Turkmenistan firmly adheres to international law and the provisions of the UN Charter. Turkmenistan's neutrality entails the active use of diplomatic, political, and economic tools to prevent conflicts.
Turkmenistan's positive neutrality in Central Asia is an important prerequisite for regional stability and good neighborliness. Our country consistently advocates for the development of coordinated solutions to pressing issues on the regional and international agendas and for effective dialogue.
This morning, the heads of high-ranking delegations participating in the International Forum laid bouquets of flowers at the Monument of Neutrality, a symbol of deep respect for our country's foreign policy and its legal status of permanent neutrality, enshrined in special resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
