The 30th International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2025" (OGT-2025) successfully concluded in Ashgabat on October 24.

The final day of the landmark forum was devoted to key strategic topics: underground gas storage (UGS), liquefied natural gas (LNG), CO₂ capture and use technologies, and the role of innovation and human capital in Turkmenistan's sustainable energy transition.

Gurbangeldy Garlyev, Chairman of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology," delivered a presentation on CO₂ capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. He emphasized that these technologies are becoming one of the most effective tools in the fight against climate change.

According to Garlyev, the integration of CCUS with renewable energy and hydrogen technologies lays the foundation for sustainable industrial and energy growth in Turkmenistan.

Phil Gibbons, Senior Petrophysics Consultant at GaffneyCline Energy Advisory, presented the results of the company's assessment of the Ojak underground gas storage (UGS) project. He noted that this project represents a critical step in increasing Turkmenistan's energy resilience and LNG export flexibility. A simulation model based on decades of production data confirms that the reservoir is capable of sustaining a seasonal injection/withdrawal cycle of up to 5 billion cubic meters of working gas.

GaffneyCline's technical recommendations, including the use of highly deviated and horizontal wells, improved injection and withdrawal efficiency, reduced capital expenditures, and accelerated the project's implementation timeline. He added that the underground gas storage facility at the Ojak field is not only a technical asset but also a strategic tool for achieving Turkmenistan's goals of energy independence and export competitiveness.

This year's conference brought together over 1,400 delegates from 70 countries, including representatives of leading international energy companies, government agencies, financial institutions, and research organizations, confirming Turkmenistan's status as a reliable global energy partner and a center for regional dialogue.

Following the main sessions, a press conference was held with the participation of international and local journalists. Representatives of the organizing committee and partner companies summarized the results of OGT-2025, noting the high level of business interaction, the productivity of bilateral meetings, and the strengthening of international cooperation in the energy sector.
