During his official visit to Italy, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella on October 24, TDH reports.

During the meeting, held in the Quirinal Palace in Rome, the two leaders reaffirmed Turkmenistan and Italy's commitment to developing mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Sergio Mattarella, emphasizing that Italy highly values cooperation with Turkmenistan, based on principles of mutual respect, noted the high level of interstate relations, which meet mutual interests.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the current bilateral meeting will make a significant contribution to the further expansion of interstate partnership.

"We highly appreciate the Italian Republic's commitment to developing close cooperation with Turkmenistan." "We are also interested in expanding our partnership with Italy, both bilaterally and multilaterally," said Serdar Berdimuhamedov, noting the importance of the first Central Asia-Italy Summit held in April.

Noting that this year Turkmenistan is celebrating 30 years of permanent neutrality and that an international forum will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 to commemorate this event, the President invited Sergio Mattarella to participate.

Thanking for the invitation, Mattarella emphasized that Italy highly values Turkmenistan's important role in strengthening regional peace and stability.

As TDH notes, Italy is one of Turkmenistan's largest trading partners in the European Union. Bilateral economic cooperation is multifaceted, and trade volume is increasing every year. Italian companies are participating in major energy projects in Turkmenistan. In turn, Turkmenistan, which possesses significant natural resource reserves, views Italy as a reliable partner in diversifying its energy supplies and implementing high production standards.

The Central Asia–Italy format also serves to strengthen interstate relations. Discussing prospects for cooperation on a multilateral basis facilitates more effective realization of the Central Asian states' potential in areas such as energy, transport, and infrastructure, and also facilitates the attraction of Italian technology and investment in economic sectors.

The official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Italy continues. Serdar Berdimuhamedov is expected to participate in the Turkmen-Italian Business Forum and the opening of the exhibition "Ancient Civilization of Turkmenistan" at the Capitoline Museum in Rome.

Following the visit, the signing of a package of bilateral documents on key areas of cooperation is expected.
